BLUE is an export beer, a low-fermentation beer type that was very popular in the 1950s.
At that time, heavy manual labor was very important and the workers regularly drank beer.

At that time, export had a lower alcohol percentage than the regular lager and it was also always offered in 33cl. In this way they could drink more beer without affecting their work performance.

Today, the export beer of Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste bears the name BLUE, because this was the color of the clothing that the workers wore to work.
It is still offered in 33cl bottles, but now has the same alcohol percentage as the lager. (5.2% vol.)

BLUE is brewed exclusively with natural raw materials: water, maize, malted barley, hops and yeast. BLUE has a limited shelf life (9 months) without the addition of preservatives, so the beer is preferably drunk as fresh as possible.
